Luke Zeme > "The Boat Shed" © Luke Zeme 2013, Nikon D800.

This is a really old Boat Shed on a lake high up in the Mountains of Tasmania. It's actually on Cradle Lake in Cradle Mountain National Park. I hiked all around the lake and up to the face peak and on the ridge it was knee deep snow, was an epic view from up there. Much more placid down here on the lake though :-)
Luke Zeme > "Sydney Opera house" sunset. © Luke Zeme 2012.

We all know the famous sails of the Sydney Opera House, but I explored its exterior and came up with this composition, which is what an artist should try to do. Come to a place and make it his or her own. You can see in the distance the sun warming a set of the shells and the ones in the foreground a much cooler colour from being in the shade.

Luke Zeme > "Waterfall Cave" © Luke Zeme 2013

A stunning scene inside the mouth of a cave where a river has carved out a small section of the roof and created a waterfall inside the cave. It was a truly beautiful Australian place down in the valley of a rainforest.

Luke Zeme > "Luminescence" © Luke Zeme 2013, Nikon D800. Shot in Tokyo Japan.

Tokyo is an intense neon jungle which takes everything to the next level. HDR is perfect for cityscapes from Tokyo and I could spend weeks and weeks there creating compositions. I feel like I've only touched the surface on what is an amazing place. When I look into this shot I am reminded of the great sci-fi film blade runner. Blade runner was actually a book first, like most great films, and it was written by Phillip K. Dick and titled "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"...

Luke Zeme > "Morning Reflections", © Luke Zeme 2013

a calm and quiet morning by the harbor.
With the help of my taxi driver I was able to find this great spot for shooting Sydney Australia at Sunrise, at the expense of my coin of course ;-) I was staying over the other side of the Sydney CBD and my instructions were for us to head over towards milsons point so that we could get a shot with the Sydney Tower behind the Bridge at Sunrise... I think we did pretty well, for 5am in the morning. After the shot I wondered over to Luna park, on the left of the image, and got the ferry back to Circular Quay, a perfect morning in Sydney before everyone has even had their breakfast :-)

Luke Zeme > "The Rocky Sunrise" © Luke Zeme 2013
I found this secret location between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay and camped out the night before to get up early and shoot a golden sunrise over this rocky shoreline. Australia is such a diverse country from its snowy peaks in Tasmania to its golden beaches on the Gold Coast and I'm now at the point where I feel lucky to have a country like this.

This cute little alley is the beginning of the philosophers walk, a very famous set of streets in Japan.

Luke Zeme > "Velvet Water" © Luke Zeme 2013, Nikon D800

In a gorge in Tasmania, Australia, before the sun had risen high enough for its rays to penetrate the valley. I got down low with my tripod and did some long exposure photography. It's the end of winter here and the temperatures were pretty low, cold enough to see your breath and have frosts but in the valleys here there is no snow. You need to head up into the mountains for that.

Luke Zeme > "Opera House at Dawn" © Luke Zeme 2013

I left early for this one to arrive well before sunrise and get the first warm glow in the Sky behind the Sydney Opera House. It's truly beautiful down on the waters edge here while most of the city is still sleeping allowing for a respite from busy city life. People say it for reason because it's true "Sydney Harbour is the most beautiful harbour in the world" but I might be bias as I grew up an hour from here.

This image would look beautiful printed on any of the formats I offer- photographic paper, canvas or printed on metal.

Luke Zeme > "Ginza Tokyo", This is the place to burn money in Tokyo and its called Ginza. All the wealthy and attractive people of Japan shop here... and I have to admit sometimes work can be really hard on me ;-)

I took a long exposure composition of the Georgio Armani and Dior stores whilst giving it depth by positioning my the view right down just one of the shopping alleys of this district.

Luke Zeme > "Chinese Lantern Skyline, Brisbane" © Luke Zeme 2013

A set of red lanterns across the pedestrian bridge to Southbank had a dramatic impact on the Brisbane cityscape. I think their pink hue looked really nice reflected on the rivers surface and then up to the clouds.

Luke Zeme > "The Oil Fields" © Luke Zeme 2013. Nikon D800 + Nikkor 14-24mm

This HDR shot of the Brisbane CBD was taken in the ripples on the waters surface of it's artificial beach during a beautiful sunrise. Sometimes placing your subject in the centre of your composition can work and give it strength and I think this is one of those circumstances. I titled it the oil fields because the clouds looks like those burning oil fields from the middle east that were all over the news in the 90's.

Tokyo, Japan, is a place of wonder and something everyone should experience at least once in there life. This shot from 25 stories up looking down on the urban sprawl was taken at around 2pm on a friday afternoon and you can see all the people using the busiest crossing in the world "Shibuya Crossing".

Luke Zeme > A beautiful morning on the Brisbane river with the rising sun just behind the city giving the sky a nice warm glow. This image is another one in a series of mine where I am exploring the city at its most breath taking moments using the technique of HDR photography.

Luke Zeme > "The Bamboo Forest" © Luke Zeme 2013

This amazing Bamboo Forest is located just a short train ride outside of Kyoto, and its just like a surreal dream. I'll never forget my visit because it was raining so heavy that I had to buy myself an umbrella to explore the area. If you are only in a place once, you can't let a little rain stop you from enjoying it.
